Beta-carotene in 60 capsules. Beta-carotene is a plant carotenoid that the body converts into vitamin A as needed, which is why it is called 'provitamin A'. This body-regulated conversion avoids the risk of toxicity that preformed vitamin A (retinol) can have in high doses. The formed vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision, skin, and mucous membranes, as well as the normal functioning of the immune system.

Main ingredients:
Beta-carotene (provitamin A) of plant or synthetic origin (check label).

For the exact amount per capsule, vitamin A equivalent (1 mg beta-carotene ≈ 0.167 mg RE) and %NRV, consult the packaging.

Dosage (check packaging): 1 capsule daily with a fat-containing meal.

With fat: beta-carotene is fat-soluble. Absorption improves significantly with olive oil, nuts, avocado, or oily fish.

Best time: with the main meal at midday or dinner.

Continuity: 8-12 weeks for progressive tissue accumulation.

Regarding skin color (carotenodermia): If taken in high doses for a long time, the palms of the hands and soles of the feet may acquire a slightly yellowish-orange tone. This is harmless and reversible. It is NOT jaundice (which would also affect the whites of the eyes).

⚠️ WARNINGS:
• SMOKERS and recent ex-smokers (<5 years): studies have associated high-dose beta-carotene with an increased risk in this profile. Consult before taking it.
• Pregnancy and lactation: beta-carotene is generally safe (unlike preformed vitamin A in high doses).
